When we think of the word healing, we usually think of a physical healing. However, over the years I’ve realized how important our emotional healing is. With physical pain, it’s usually obvious and something that can’t necessarily be ignored. But with emotional pain, we tend to hide it and pretend it’s not there.
When we don’t deal with the pain from our past, it affects our perspective, our attitude, and our hearts. We can become bitter, angry, and frustrated, and may not even know why. When we continue to get hurt and don’t deal with it, it accumulates on top of the old hurt we never dealt with. It could end up changing us, our relationships and our perspective in life and with others. We also develop those ugly bitter roots. The deeper they go, the harder they are to dig up.
From time to time, you may feel that pain or hurt come up to the surface. The natural reaction may be to ignore it, or push it back down. However, I believe it’s God bringing it to the surface. He wants us to be healthy and whole. He created us and knows everything about us, every thought, every action, every hurt, and every tear you cry. He cares about every single detail of your life. He doesn’t want you to sit with the pain. He will bring it to the surface so you can deal with it, forgive, and move forward into all He has for you.
So next time you have that pain or hurt come up to the surface, don’t ignore it. Take time to let it out and heal. A good way to begin is by journaling. Write down what you’re feeling. As you write it down, you will begin to see what’s actually there. It opens your heart to heal. After your done writing it down, PRAY! Lay it all out before GOD. Ask Him to help you get to the root of the pain and heal from it. It won’t be immediate, but if you continue the practice of journaling, praying, and releasing it to God, you will begin to see progress.
We only have this one crazy life, make the most of it. Give it all you have! Don’t let the pain of your past get in the way of you living out your best future! God made you so beautiful and unique. He wants you to live life to the full in Him. He wants to use you to do great things. We’ve been given this great opportunity to be here at this time in History to make a difference and to be different. There has never and will never be anyone like you! So open up and let God work it all out in you so there is nothing in the way of you shining as brightly as He made you to be!
